What is Stewardship?
Stewardship is about much more than money, it is about knowing that all we have comes from God. How can we be good stewards? The simple answer is through giving. I have learned Calvary is a truly giving congregation.
What are the Different Ways to Give?
Basically, there are four ways you can give to Calvary:
1. Prayer
2. Volunteering
3. Donating “stuff”
4. Giving Money
The order of the four items is in order of importance. Yes, giving money is crucial to the church, but not as important as the other three! (That does not mean, though, that we won’t talk about giving money!) Calvary members have a history of being generous in all four ways, as evidenced by the great number of volunteers who make things like Vacation Bible School and Day Camp successful, the amount of food donated to the Food Pantry, the Lutheran World Relief sewing kits, and the financial contributions received at worship, just to name a few.
Calvary is sensitive to the fact we don’t want to be about always asking you for money, and yet, there is a designated time every year when we focus on our financial commitments to the church. So as we receive our fall stewardship information, we might prayerfully consider what being a good steward for God means, and what we are going to do about it.
